PSA: success story in : Industry – Production

Why ?

The group PSA sold more than 2.9 million vehicles in the world in 2014, this involves an intensive use of every post and every machine during the manufacturing. On its assembly lines of propeller shaft, PSA uses certainly old but perfectly scheduled and settled tours of manufacturing. However certain pieces arrive at the end of life cycle and must be changed so that machines can continue to work correctly.

The supplier of these machines was not able to propose a service as high as the requirements of PSA and suggested a complete change of the machine what involves a cutting off production lines during several weeks even month – perfectly unthinkable solution for PSA who equips with these DV6 and DVR engines parts its key models: 208, 308, 3008, 508, C4, DS4, DS5 …

The collaboration with IPO Technologie:

PSA thus turned to specific suppliers of HMI able to propose a custom-made solution. After several months of negotiation and ratification it is IPO Technologie french SME which was retained to supply screens 15 inches specifically developed to be integrated into the writing desk of control of the machines.

The Solution

IPO Technologie proposed a specific adaptation of its screens ITAS 15. To facilitate the change and the maintenance IPO Technologie suggested a screen connected with standard connections (VGA and USB) via a RJ45 conversion kit. The screen is deported by more than 25 meters of the control PC. For more operators’ comfort IPO Technologie also supplied tight and completely washable keyboards (projections of oil) deported too by 25 meters from the PC.

The ITAS 15″ of IPO Technologie is panelmount monitor in metal cased. Designed to resist the most extreme conditions: dusts, projection, humidity, temperature variation, shocks, IP65 on front face they also benefit from a manufacturer guarantee of more than 2 years.

This solution allowed a change of the HMI in record time and at a lower cost without any breakdown in the production line. The deployment is perfectly integrated into the machine for an optimal user-friendly system.

The Future:

IPO Technologie equips now, 6 production lines on the Tremery PSA Peugeot Citroën site. The specific screen ITAS15 is referenced on the PSA catalog and can be settled on other production lines or at PSA subcontractors.
